Join us in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania for our "PREMIER" gravel event!
Come explore Bald Eagle State Forest as we wind through dense wilderness on real gravel roads. Enjoy two days of riding, camaraderie, and a Saturday Evening Dinner Social to wrap things up.
NEW in 2023 - This year we'll be visiting both the Jones Mountain Overlook and the Molasses Overlook. The views are amazing and you'll feel rewarded with a great experience as you make your way to both of these scenic spots in Bald Eagle State Forest.
Your registration fee includes routes with GPS files and cue sheets, SAG support, including snacks and hydration during the rides, and a catered dinner on Saturday evening.
This is our 2nd annual event and like all PBC events, is sure to offer you something special to remember. Come prepared and without expectations. Leave feeling satisfied and accomplished.
What to Expect...
This ride is for riders who enjoy riding quiet forest roads that offers scenery unlike what we get on road rides. It's riding on real gravel, most of which is packed. The terrain will vary and will never bore you. You can expect (moderately) challenging gravel climbs, breathtaking views of the forest below, exciting descents that'll keep you alert, and long gravel stretches over rolling terrain and along streams.
Equipment Needed
Riders will need a bike designed to handle such terrain. Whether you have a cross bike, gravel bike, or hybrid, the recommended tire width is 32 mm or wider.
Route Details
Your "Event Checklist" will be emailed to you a few days prior to the ride and will include GPS files of each route. Expect routes to be 25-42 miles with an option to ride 50 miles if you like. The terrain will bemoderate to hilly. A 40 mile route can have about 3000 feet of elevation gain over the course of the ride.
Thursday's afternoon warm-up ride will take you through two historic covered bridges. This will be a relaxed pace ride to get the legs and lungs warmed-up for the following day's ride. This ride will be a mixture of surfaces, from paved to gravel and incorporates the area's popular trail into the route.
For the rides on Friday and Saturday, once you enter the forest, expect temperatures to drop 5-10 degrees. So come prepared to add or shed layers. Our resident Director of Hydration (DOH), Joe, will be on hand to make sure you are taken care of and that we have enough "hydration" in the vehicle. Feel free to put other personal belongings into the SAG vehicle. Our DOH will be at every turn (and more) to make sure everyone has what they need. While the rides are planned to keep the group together, it is wise for riders to come prepared to ride the full distance and navigate on their own if needed.
Unless you are a very experienced gravel rider, you can expect your average pace to decrease. This event is not a race...it's an experience that will take your love of riding in a newly discovered direction.
